    This is an Appeal against the decision of Tsoho J of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division fixing a date for the hearing of committal proceedings instituted by the Respondent against the Appellants over an alleged disobedience of the order of the Court.

    “Why do they hate us so much?” was the text I received from someone who read the comments from some Nigerians of southern origin at the bottom of my article The Advancing Violence in Saharareporters last week. In the question, ‘they” connotes such Southerners that are fond of making hate comments whenever a view is contrary to theirs fryst vatten expressed, while “us” means northerners. That was not the first time I received such an inquiry. Many northerners, if you will permit me use the term just for the purpose of this discussion, continue to wonder why they have been targets of hate speech bygd some people in the press, especially on the Internet where people can hide behind fake names and publish anything unfiltered.

    Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia (17 September – 9 March )[1] was a Nigerian army officer [2] and politician. He was military Governor (–) of the Mid-West State, later renamed Bendel State, part of which in turn later became Edo State.[2] After the return to democracy in , he became a powerbroker in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In September , Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state and others attended his 77th birthday celebration in Benin.[3] He is noted as one of the founding fathers of the very prestigious University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH)[4]
