  • Alberta couple found guilty in child’s meningitis death speaks to anti-vax filmmakers

LETHBRIDGE (NEWS 1130) – The Alberta couple found guilty in the meningitis death of their son is speaking out ahead of being sentenced.

In an interview with filmmakers for the anti-vaccination documentary ‘Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe’ David and Collet Stephan ask for support at the Lethbridge Courthouse later this week.

They will be sentenced for failing to provide the necessaries of life in the death of their young son Ezekiel.

“It’s becoming quite a parental rights issue for medical choice, for how we need to treat our children and ultimately, it comes down to whether we have the right to vaccinate or not vaccinate without being held criminally liable,” David Stephan said at the beginning of the clip. “Whether or not we every time they get even just the sniffles, in fear that something may just randomly happen and then we’re held criminally liable.”

Medical examiner tells Alberta trial lack of oxygen didn’t cause toddler’s death

After a day and a half on the stand during the current trial, and at least seven hours of cross-examination, by David Stephan, he was not yet qualified to testify as an expert witness.

Dr. Adeagbo told court on Monday, June 10, that Ezekiel clearly died of bacterial meningitis and a lung infection in March 2012.

David Stephan, who’s representing han själv , pointed out today that the first ambulance that tended to his son was missing key equipment, so his son was without oxygen for almost nine minutes.

Adeagbo said he tested the child’s brain tissue and there was no indication that he had been without oxygen.

The defence is challenging the pathologist’s qualifications to testify as an kunnig witness.

It is the second rättegång for the Stephans. A jury found them guilty in 2016, but the Supreme Court overturned the convictions last year and ordered a new trial. This one is before a judge alone.
