Lời cảm tạ của Cao Hành Kiện (với quốc vương Thuỵ Điển tại lễ trao giải Nobel văn học 2000):

Con người đang đứng trước mặt ngài hãy còn nhớ, anh ta hồi tám tuổi, bà mẹ bảo viết nhật ký, anh ta đã viết như thế này, và cứ viết mãi cho đến lúc trưởng thành.
Anh ta cũng còn nhớ, khi vào trường trung học, thầy giáo dạy tập làm văn treo lên bảng một tấm tranh quảng cáo, không nói đề mục, mọi người hãy viết về bức tranh này. Nhưng anh ta không thích bức tranh ấy, bèn viết một bài dài phê bình nó. Thầy giáo không những không nổi giận mà còn cho anh ta điểm cao, lại có lời nhận xét nữa: Bút lực rất khoẻ. This dialogue montage assembles extracts of conversations between Gao Xingjian and Fiona Sze Lorrain, held on various occasions–both private and public–between October 2006 and December 2007. Centering on Silhouette/Shadow (originally titled as La Silhouette sinon l’ombre in French), Gao’s first film feature completed in 2006, the dialogue explores the multi-disciplinary French-Chinese writer’s interests in cinema as a form of aesthetics and artistic expression. It also serves as a preliminary discussion concerning his approaches toward filmmaking as an art and craft. Arranged, compiled, edited, and translated into English by the author, the conversations were originally conducted in both French and Chinese.
FSL: Gao Xingjian, what inspired you, as a novelist, playwright, poe • It's the birthday of Pulitzer Prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin, (books by this author) born in Brooklyn, New York (1943). She's the author of the highly acclaimed biographies Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream (1976), The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys: An American Saga (1987), and grupp of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln (2005). When she was 20 years old, she landed an internship at the State Department in Washington, and a couple of years later she interned with Congress. At 24, she was working at the White House for the Labor Secretary under Lyndon Johnson's administration. On the side, she was writing, and one of the articles she co-wrote was called "How to Remove LBJ in 1968." It was a scathing attack of President Johnson's Vietnam War policy, and it was published in The New Republic. And then she met the president at a fancy ball at the White House. He knew that she had written and published harsh things about him. But he asked her to dance anyway.
