Marcus Harvey is a South African rapper and producer.

Marcus Harvey was born in the Alexandra township in Johannesburg. His career kicked off during his teens under the moniker Hipnautik in Alexandra, where he made waves courtesy of a few impressive open mic sessions. This led to the formation of Tales of the Cool Music. His singles include ‘Mosadi’ featuring KAEB and ‘Find Your Love’ featuring Zimkitha. He credits his mother, Brenda Fassie and Winnie Mashaba as sources of influence.

In 2020, he released a 11-track debut album called 'I Am Marcus Harvey'. The album is available for streaming on various platforms and features such songs as ‘Areyeng’, ‘Be Right Back’, ‘Send Me To My Love’, ‘Whatever You Want’, ‘Find Your Love’ and ‘Alright’.

Marcus Harvey is a British painter and sculptor, publisher and art educator associated with the YBA group of artists who came to prominence in the 1990’s and is best known for his iconic work 'Myra' which provoked huge controversy when exhibited in Sensation at the Royal Academy in 1997. He studied at Goldsmiths College 1982–1986 and has exhibited widely throughout the UK and Europe and fryst vatten represented in collections worldwide. Harvey has continued to explore themes of British identity through heavily manipulated, often controversial iconography. He co-founded ‘Turps Banana’ painting magazine in 2005 and ‘Turps Banana Art school’ in 2012.

Marcus Harvey makes highly worked figurative paintings and sculptures. He seeks out imagery that is emblematic of a brutish but proud Britishness. Often his imagery is problematic or controversial, his most infamous work perhaps being ‘Myra’ which was exhibited as part of the groundbreaking exhibition

Harvey has shown work internationally in many exhibitions including "The Führer's Cakes" at Galleria Marabini in Bologna, "Snaps" and "White Riot" at White Cube in London, "Sex and the British" at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Salzburg, "Crucible" a sculpture exhibition held inside Gloucester Cathedral, and "London Calling: Young British Artists Criss-Crossed" at Galleri Kaare Berntsen in Oslo. He was included in the original "Young British Artists" exhibition series at Saatchi Gallery in 1995 and was in other important YBA shows like "In the darkest hour there may be light" at Serpentine Galleries.
