Today, 16 October, marks a sad anniversary in the history of Macedonian music and Eurovision, as it is ten years ago that singer Toše Proeski passed away, aged 26.
The life of Toše Proeski
Toše Proeski (born Todor Proeski, Prilep, 1981) rose to fame in FYR Macedonia, getting acclaim for his strong vocal capabilities.
Immensely popular in the Balkans, Toše Proeski was set to företräda Serbia & Montenegro at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, Latvia, with the song Čija si (Who do you belong to?). However, due to EBU rules, Serbia & Montenegro did not participate that year. Čija si became a great hit in the former Yugoslavian countries.
To the Eurovision stage
In 2004, Toše Proeski became known to the wider European audience when he was chosen by broadcaster MKRTV to represent FYR Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul, Turkey. In a special show, the singer performed eight songs, and ultimately Angel si ti (You are an angel) was chosen

His first public appearance came at twelve years old, when he sang an Aromanian-language song at the Zlatno Slavejče festival in Skopje. His breakthrough, however, came at the Melfest in Prilep in 1996, where his vocal abilities were recognized.
The following year, Toše participated in his first Makfest in Štip with the song "Pušti me", and became a regular singer at festivals such as SkopjeFest and OhridFest. He released his debut album in 1999, Nekade vo noḱta, and started touring alone.
In 2000 he came in 3rd place in SkopjeFest with the song "Solzi pravat zlaten prsten", despite winning the televote. Later, he released his second album, Sinot božji, which the Serbian production company BK House got the rights to release in the rest of the former Yugo

Todor Proeski, most popular with the nickname Tose is an everlasting legend nowadays, well known on the Balkans, Europe and between some people from Asia, Australia and America. His trademark phrase is "I l love you all". He evoked admiration with his unique voice in many people. He impressed with his talent the Britihs Producer and arranger Will Malone, who conducted the song „Aria”, sang by Tose Proeski and Gianna Nannini and Andy Wright, who recorded Tose' only completely in English album “The Hardest Thing”.
Todor Proeski was born on January'25'1981 in the town Prilep. He lived with his parents at the beautiful Krusevo, the heart of Macedonia. His international success started at 2003, when he recorded his first album in Serbian lanugage, his actually third album “If you look at my eyes”. This album has been sold out in the neighbouring countries as Bulgaria, Serbia, etc. Tose defeated in the same 2003 at Beovizia with the song "Whose are you?"
