    Jon was born on månad 29, 1938, in Yonkers, New York state. His father Elmer, killed tragically in 1973 when he was hit by a car, was a Czechoslovakian immigrant who became a pro golfer. His mum, Barbara, was a substitute teacher. 

    Jon had two siblings, one of whom also went into showbiz; brother Chip Taylor, nee James Wesley Voight, wrote the hit songs Wild Thing and Angel In The Morning while the other, Barry, became a volcanologist. The aspiring actor attended Catholic University of amerika in Washington DC, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1960, aged 22.

    Jonathan Vincent Voight (; born December 29, 1938) is an American actor. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and four Golden Globe Awards as well as nominations for four Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2019, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts.[1] Films in which Voight has appeared have grossed more than $5.2 billion worldwide.[2]

    Associated with the angst and unruliness that typified the late 1960s counterculture,[3] Voight won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a paraplegicVietnam veteran in Coming Home (1978).
