In 1975 Afremov met his wife to be, Inessa Kagan, who he married the following year. In 1977 his first son Dmitry was born. The young family lived in a 2 room apartment together with Inessa’s parents, grandmother and sister. In 1982 they bought their own home where they lived until 1990. After graduating from college, Afremov worked as a label designer in a local beer and liquor factory. Then he briefly worked in a local theater as a set designer.

In the early 1980’s he started doing free-lance work for communal farms and schools, designing and making various propaganda posters, themed rooms and walls for certain communist events and holidays. He was also doing template sculptures of Lenin from plaster. He had a very good reputation in that field and was invited back by many farms and schools. This type of work was available only during the summer and spring. In November 1984 his second son Boris was born.

Drawings I did in high school. I was inspired by Leonid Afremov, a Russian-American painter.

As inom want to go into product design, everything I do nowadays is three-dimensional works, using materials such as the wood, wire, fabrics, and plastic sheets. But, before I got interested in creating three-dimensional pieces, I was fascinated in drawing with color pencils. Drawing landscapes with color pencils was what I loved to do most and what I did the best (that was before I figured out that I love building and making stuffs with hands more than drawing). Since I was interested in landscape, I definitely found pursuit in researching artists of similar field. From all the other landscape artists, Leonid Afremov specially caught my attention and inspired me the most.

A contemporary Russian-American painter, Leonid Afremov, is probably unfamiliar to most of you; however, if his works are presented, you would definitely think that you have seen his works somewhere.

Good day to start a blog! My morning started fresh with my hands getting dirty from ceramics which are without a doubt so much fun regardless.

Anyway, today’s artists are basically professional painters, whose works inom have great passion for. Their paintings are remarkable and their similarities would be brush/finger marking.

The first artist, Leonid Afremov, is personally my favorite. Afremov was born in Belarus 1955 and currently lives in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. His paintings are collected all over the world. He asserts his passion towards art when he says, “I love to express the beauty, harmony and spirit of this world in my paintings.
